Description
A Queen Anne mahogany side chair (American, c. 1760) made in Newport, RI. The open back has carved styles, a vase shaped splat, and arched crest rail accented at the center with a large shell carving. The seat rail has rounded corners raised on two cabriole legs that terminate in pad feet. Two chamfered and splayed back legs terminate in block feet. The chair has four spindle and block turned stretchers and a slip seat covered in a modern red cotton moire fabric.
