Description
A VIEUX PARIS (DUC D' ANGOULEME FACTORY) ORMOLU MOUNTED BISCUIT CLOCK WITH WORKS BY HAMLET OF LONDON (French, late 18th century). The porcelain form of a seated allegorical figure of love writing on a tablet is supported by another of Cupid. The rockwork base is fitted with a clock bearing an enamel dial contained within an original turned ormolu surround. The glazed porcelain base has pale cafe au lait panels on grisaille with amors in sepia. The whole piece is supported on four ormolu claw feet. Inscribed: 'Manufacture of the Duc d' Angouleme, Rue De Bondy, Paris'.
