A PAIR OF WATERCOLOR WINDOW STUDIES (American, 20th century) by Helen Maitland Armstrong (American, 1869-1948). The studies are for memorial windows erected at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bernardsville, NJ in 1929 by Maitland Armstrong & Co., the stained glass firm started by her father David Maitland Armstrong. The studies for the gothic-arched stained glass windows depict St. Anne and the Virgin Mary reading a book on one and an angel with an inscribed banner at the bottom and a "MA" (for Maitland Armstrong) cipher at the top on the other.
