Untitled Watercolor Landscape of the Grounds of Danskammer
A WATERCOLOR LANDSCAPE OF THE GROUNDS OF DANSKAMMER, NEWBURGH, NY (American, August 6, 1895) by Edward Maitland Armstrong (American, 1874-1915). The view depicts an open field, with a grove of cedar trees to the left and a large pine tree atop a background ridge. It appears it took Armstrong two and a half hours to complete this watercolor, written on the bottom right corner in pencil is "Time 2 ½ Hours." It is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom left corner. Danskammer-on-Hudson was the Armstrong family’s country estate.
