Description
A stained and glazed glass skylight (American, c. 1852) attributed to W. J. McPherson & Co., Boston, MA. The skylight is installed in Mrs. Wetmore’s bathroom on the second floor of Chateau-sur-Mer, original to the house the skylight was altered during Richard Morris Hunt’s renovations in the 1870s. The skylight is made up of three central panels and a compartmentalized border, featuring geometric designs with stylized sun bursts, flower head medallions, and vines in tones of yellow, blue, green, orange, and red.
