Four Louis XIV Style Carved Gilwood Tabourets
Four Louis XIV style carved and giltwood tabourets (French, c. 1900) from the workshops of Jules Allard & Sons of Paris. Each tabouret has a rectangular upholstered seat and stands on four bellflower and acanthus carved tapered legs with circular platform feet. The legs are joined by a carved foliate H-shaped stretcher with an inverted acanthus leaf ball finial in the center. Two of the tabourets are upholstered in their original red ciselé floral velvet. These covers are now under Scalamandre silk velvet show covers. The other two had previously been reupholstered and are now fully covered in the same Scalamdre fabric with silk tapes and fringes reproduced from originals by Scalamandre. Original to The Elms.
