Description
A SET OF FIFTEEN CARVED MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS (French, 19th century) done in Louis XV style by the design firm Jules Allard and Sons. The rectangular chair backs have a caned back panel, and shaped crest rail with molded borders carved with a shell flanked by foliage at center and leaf tips along the side. The stuff-over seats are upholstered in red silk damask. The shaped seat rail is carved along the front with scrolling leaves. The chairs stand on four cabriole legs, the front two of which have foliage carved on the knees, the legs end in foliate toes.
