A Georgian Style Wing Armchair
A Georgian style wing armchair (American, 19th century) upholstered in leather with a mahogany frame. The chair has a tall back with shaped cresting flanked by shaped wings leading to roll-over armrests with curved facings, a square seat with a matching loose cushion, and stands on four legs. The front two legs are cabriole shaped with knees carved with foliage and end in ball and claw feet. The back two legs are plain block splayed legs. The stamped Spanish leather upholstery is decorated with a design of interlaced silver loops enclosing medallions. Starburst shaped tacks secure the leather upholstery to the frame.
