A black and white photograph depiciting the exterior of a naval facility (Building 96) on Goat Island. During World Wars I and II, Goat Island served as the location of the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station. The building is made of brick, and is comprised of two sections of different heights. The section at foreground has regularly spaced windows and three sets of doors. The taller section of the building has regularly spaced windows; beyond the roof, a tall, large metal structure with a round drum at its top can be seen. A plaque affixed to the bottom right corner of the building reads as follows: 96 ERECTED 1941 HONORABLE FRANK KNOX [Secretary of the Navy] REAR ADMIRAL WILLIAM H.P. BLANDY U.S.N. CAPTAIN FRANK H. ROBERTS U.S.N.
