AN OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG WOMAN (French, circa 1890) by Charles Chaplin, French (1825-91). The sitter, Miss Gertrude Vanderbilt, is depicted full face, half-length, wearing a white dress and a blue ribbon around her head, and seated with arms crossed in front of her holding a white dove. The piece is in its original gilt-wood frame with acanthus leaves and scallop shells. Signed lower right: "Charles Chaplin."
