A Rattan-Weave Covered Suitcase

c. 1940

A RATTAN WEAVE-COVERED SUITCASE (American, c. 1940) by Solight with a brown leather reinforced handle and corners and a brown cloth and satin pocket lined interior. The lock plate is stamped "SoLight." According to Ann Marvell Kirwin: "This suitcase belonged to Alice Brayton; she said at the age of 90 that everyone over 90 years old should carry a suitcase like this one from one end of Park Avenue to the other, [so] that if they did not survive, that was that!"
