Description
A SMALL SHALLOW STERLING SILVER RAISED DISH (American, c. 1845) by John L. Westervelt, Newburgh, NY. The interior of the dish is engraved with roses at center. The rim is engraved with an "A" (for Armstrong) and an armor clad arm holding a dagger above which reads "Invictus Maneo" (Latin for I remain undefeated) which is the motto of the Armstrong clan. The dish stands on three ball and claw feet. The underside of the dish is marked "John L. Westervelt."
