Description
A STATUARY GROUPING DEPICTING NEPTUNE OR POSEIDON (French, c. 1910) by the workshops of Jules Allard et ses Fils, composed of soft French limestone. Neptune is depicted gesturing toward the horizon with one hand and holding his three pronged trident in the other, drapery swirls over his shoulders. Seated below him is his wife Amphitrite, a granddaughter of the Titan named Ocean. Based on the sculptural depictions of Neptune by Lambert-Sigisbert Adam (French, 1700-1759). This statuary group sits on the roofline of The Elms along with PSNC.11329, PSNC.11330, PSNC.11332, PSNC.11333, PSNC.11334, PSNC.11335, and PSNC.11337.
