Description
A STATUARY GROUPING DEPICTING THE BIRTH OF VENUS (French, c. 1910) by the workshops of Jules Allard et ses Fils, Paris, composed of soft French limestone. The goddess Venus is depicted emerging from her scallop shell and borne by a dolphin, her hair, drapery, and cloak are windblown, and an attendant putto reaches up to Venus with an offering. This statuary group sits on the roofline of The Elms along with PSNC.11329, PSNC.11330, PSNC.11331, PSNC.11332, PSNC.11333, PSNC.11335, and PSNC.11337.
