A terracotta roundel casting in high relief of a Madonna and Child (Italian, 19th century) installed above the mantel in the Library of The Elms, modeled after the original above the entrance of the Church of San Jacopo di Ripoli in Florence, attributed to Andrea Della Robbia (1435-1525) or Giovanni Della Robbia (1469-1529). The Madonna is depicted at half-length, gazing to the right, wearing a flowing pleated dress and mantle and holding in her arms the partially draped Christ child, smiling with his right hand raised in Benediction.
