LE BON GENRE, NO. 5 LA TOILETTE (French, 19th century), the satirical colored engraving depicts two women assisted by maids as they attempt to beautify themselves before a mirror. The younger woman on the left dons a breast enchaining prosthesis, meant to compliment the clinging fabric of neo-classical fashions. The older woman on the right applies pigment to the curls not covered by her cap. Printed on the bottom right is "Rue Montmartre No. 132." The engraving is housed in a gilt-wood frame with a French matte.
