Description
A hand-colored genre engraving entitled "The Anglers’ Repast" (English, c. 1890) by Sydney E. Wilson (English, b. 1869) after a painting of the same name by George Morland (English, 1763-1804). The print depicts an 18th century fishing party made up of two couples and two servants, one Black and one white. In the scene the party lands their boat for a picnic. The two couples sit down to the picnic in a grassy landscape, while the two servants unload supplies and prepare lunch from the boat. Beneath the image on the bottom right the print is signed "Sydney E. Wilson." The print is housed in a birdseye maple frame.
