Description
A WALNUT FIRE SCREEN (French, late 19th century) from the workshops of Jules Allard & Sons, Paris. Part of the original furniture suite for the Guest Bedroom Sitting Room of Marble House, the carved Louis XV style frame is fitted with a beveled glass insert. The top center of the frame is carved with a female mask surrounded by a raised floral garland, the frame body is carved with curling acanthus leaves, at the bottom center is a rocaille shell. The whole is supported by two curled bracket feet.
