Description
A Chinese export blue & white ink stand (Chinese, c. 1840) composed of three pieces, a = base, b = sander, c = inkpot. The base is of rectangular form with a tall lidded back compartment and low front section split into three compartments, containing a sander, a fixed candlestick, and inkpot. The base is decorated with a dark blue landscape design against a white ground. The square bodies of the sander and inkpot are decorated with a landscape on three sides and a peony on one. The nozzle of the candlestick is decorated with a lotus band.
