Pair of Covered Jars
Description
A pair of porcelain covered jars (German, unknown date) attributed to the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. The jars are of bulbous shape. Their lids overhang their necks and are topped by pointed finials. The jars and their lids are decorated with painted reserve equestrian scenes surrounded by gilt tracery, and Chinoiserie style floral and swag accents in red, purple, yellow, and green against a white ground. On the underside they are marked in blue with the entwined monogram “AR.”
