Description
A set of eight ormolu wall appliques (French, 19th century) retailed by Archer & Pancoast Manufacturing Co., New York, installed in the main hall on the 2nd floor of The Breakers. Done in the Regence taste, each has a backplate formed as a piedouche chiseled with a satyr’s mask and supports three S-scroll arms chiseled with stylized foliage and ending in large circular drip pans and lamp fittings with frosted glass shades. The lights have been wired for both gas and electricity.
