Description
A lidded vase (Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century) composed of white jade (nephrite). The lid of the vase is topped with a carved Buddhist lion finial, attached to its back left leg is a ringed chain which attaches to a carved elephant’s head on the lower front center of the vase’s body. On either side of the vase’s neck are two elephant form strap handles with carved rings. The whole is raised on a carved wooden base that resembles a wave.
