Notes
Little Eve was presented to the Art Association of Newport (now the Newport Art Museum) in 1949, by the artist's widow. She thought that something of his should be here, as the couple had married and summered in Newport at her mother's home, and he had exhibited his sculpture at the Art Association beginning in 1917. Little Eve showcases the artist's classical training with prominent French sculptor Jean Antoine Injalbert in France, as well as the realism of Thomas Eakins with whom Quinn had studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Quinn was a prominent New York sculptor who completed many monuments and commissions for the city. He ended his life by drowning in New York Harbor.
