Description
A PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XIV STYLE GILT-WOOD FAUTEUILS (French, late 19th century) by the design firm Jules Allard and Sons. The chairs have rectangular upholstered backs, the backs and stuff-over seats are upholstered in damask. Each chair has shaped and molded armrests, with carved scroll terminals resting on S-scroll terminal supports. The chairs stand on four legs joined by an X-stretcher with a foliate boss at center. The front two legs of each chair are mouton shaped, with carved foliate capitals and end in square gadrooned toes and sit on casters. A short tasseled fringe adorns the back and seat rails.
