Description
AN ITALIAN RENAISSANCE STYLE SAVONAROLA CHAIR (Italian, c. 1880) composed of a walnut frame with a foliate silk brocade seat and back. The seat and back are accented with vertically-laid metallic tape and domed brass upholstery tacks. The curved arms are carved with acanthus leaves at the top and end in floral medallions. A raised circular floral medallion centers the X-form base. The chair stands on trestle feet with carved paws at the front.
