Description
AN ADAMESQUE-REVIVAL STYLE ARMCHAIR (English, 19th century) with a satinwood frame, cane seat, and removable padded seat cushion. The square back has an arched crest rail and triple column (pearled) open splat back. The back splats are crossed with a painted floral garland and the center splat has a medallion painted with a figure of a muse surrounded by a wreath. The frame of the chair is painted with cross hatching. Curved open armrests connect to the scoop seat. The chair stands on four legs. The front two are straight tapered block legs with foliate capitals, while the rear legs slope outward.
