Description
A PAIR OF VERY LOW FRENCH STYLE GRAY PAINTED OVAL FOOT STOOLS (French, late 19th century) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons, original to Alva Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House. The oval cushions are covered in purple velvet which matches the upholstery of the chairs in the room. The rims of the gray painted frames are carved with a beaded and leaf border. The stools stand on four fluted legs with flower head capitals and end in toupie shaped feet.
