Description
THREE ADAMESQUE STYLE CANED SIDE CHAIRS (English, c. 1880), attributed to Gillow & Co., Lancaster and London. The backs of the chairs have an arched crest rail and pierced back splat. The central back splat is painted with a design of acanthus leaves and serpents entwining a staff. The chair seats are caned and the seat rail is painted with swags and flowers. Each chair stands on four legs, the back two are splayed while the front are turned and end in cylindrical feet.
