Title
Correspondence from Gwendolen King Armstrong to Ella Rives King
Creator
Date
Dated 15 February 1888
Description
Correspondence from Gwendolen King Armstrong (Mrs. E. M. Armstrong) to her mother Ella Rives King (Mrs. David King.) This letter was sent during a period of mourning, as evidenced by the black border on the stationary, after the death of her grandmother Matilda Antonia Barclay Rives (1829-1888). In her letter a young Gwendolen notes the purchase of a new tea table writing, "Papa has bought a new tea table for the library made of cherry wood a little darker than my desk." The letter includes a paper clipping written in French that Gwendolen hopes her mother will find funny.
