Description
A set of six Italian Rococo style giltwood armchairs (French, c. 1895) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons, Paris. Each of the chairs has a cartouche-shaped back upholstered with red velvet and a molded border carved at the base, shoulders, and crest with flowering foliage. The padded armrests terminate in foliate scrolls on curved supports with matching decoration. The shaped seats, upholstered in red velvet, have shaped and molded rails pierced and carved with foliage and flowers. The chairs are raised on four foliate carved cabriole legs accented with flower-heads at the knees, and terminate in scroll toes.
