Description
A pair of Louis XIV style giltwood window seats (French, c. 1895) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons, Paris. The matching seats have arched padded sides of equal height within giltwood frames caved with a continuous pattern of scrolling foliage surmounted by padded armrests. The rectangular seats have removable loose cushions. The seats are raised on four turned baluster legs carved with foliage and flower-heads, the legs end in bun feet. The legs are joined by a matching H-stretcher. The padded sections retain their original upholstery of beige cut velvet with a trellis floral design.
