Description
A pair of George I mahogany stools (English, c. 1725). The rectangular stools have shaped sides on the short ends. Each is raised on four cabriole legs carved on the knees with shells and birds head returns, the legs terminate in ball and claw feet. The slip seats are covered in a later gros point and petit point needlework, one on a cream ground centered by an oval panel containing a fruit tree, and the other on a pink ground with a circular medallion containing a fruit tree within a patterned surround.
