Description
A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE FAUTEUILS (French, late 19th century) with grey painted frames and their backs, armrests, and seats upholstered in an Aubusson-style needlepoint. The upholstery on the backs of the chairs depicts floral bouquets and tassels on a beige and celadon ground, the seats depict musical instruments with a floral and leaf surround in a similar color pattern. The frame of the chairs is carved with a pattern of acanthus leaves. The padded armrests terminate in scroll shaped handles raised on curved supports. The bow front seat rail leads to four stop-fluted legs with arrow feet and flower head capitals.
