Description
FOUR LARGE LOUIS XVI STYLE ARMCHAIRS (French, 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard et ses Fils. The high rectangular backs, sides, and seats are upholstered in a modern red velvet with gold trim. The upholstery is secured with brass tacks. The gilt-wood frames have scrolling arms carved with acanthus leaves and connect to s-shaped supports. The seat rail is carved with flower heads and has flower head capitals on the front corners. The chairs are supported by four tapered legs carved with foliate designs that terminate in block and gadrooned feet. The legs are connected by an X-stretcher with a raised floral medallion at center.
