Description
A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE WALNUT SIDE CHAIRS (French, late 19th century) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons. Original to Mr. Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House, the chairs have a square caned seat and rectangular open backs with a lyre shaped back splat. The frames of the chairs are ornamented with bronze dore trim, including bronze flower head capitals on the corners of the seat rail. The chairs stand on four tapered fluted legs ending in cylindrical feet.
